I have had alot on my plate these last few weeks.  I have had sick children and at times a sick heart!  I have fought with family members, yelled at my children, struggled with choices my students have made, been frustrated, short tempered, and over scheduled!  I have had all of these little moments where I find myself not having enough!  Not being enough!

It is in these moments of life that we lose our focus!  We lose sight of the things that we know to be real and true.  As we say in our family....we go to crazy town!  We make mountains out of molehills!  We lose it!  We doubt our abilities!  We doubt ourselves!  We doubt our understandings!  We doubt our Faith!  We doubt our God!  I hate it when I get to that place!  Because I know better!  We all know better right!  But we still do it!

It is in those moments that God smiles and says here let me show you again!

Thank You God for showing me................................

Children laughing.

Flowers blooming in places where nothing should be able to grow.

An old womans smile as she gets called a silly name by a little boy instead of getting upset! Ya Gooney!

A student standing up for her beliefs to her friends even if it costs her those very friends!

A friend reaching out.  Again and again and again..............

The sun...It just makes us happy!

The rain and all of the amazing conversations I have had with Camden about why we have it and what it does!

Ice Cream!

A student finding her voice and using it to lead us in prayer!

My wife's unending love and support!  Even when I am in crazy town!

A homeless man smiling with a mouthfull of cheeseburger!

A watermelon!

People searching

People finding!

For opportunities

Good Movies

Great Music.....and the amazing people that play it!

Saltine Crackers

Skateboard ramps

2 wheeler bikes

Sidewalk chalk

Trees

New Life

Babies and the look on their families faces as they experience that miracle.

This list could go on and on........Because we are always being shown!

Gods love is all around us!  we are just to busy being caught up in the craziness of our lives to see it!  May God continue to use everything around us to remind us all that in order to see we must first open our eyes!

Thank You God for opening mine!

And Please Show me more!

PEACE AND LOVE JIMMY!

Our experiences with you in 2009 have been wonderful, amazing, and often full of the presence of the Holy Spirit.  I have treasured this time with you and look forward to the year to come.
These few weeks that we are not gathering are bittersweet.  I miss you all.  You are part of the Roots family and I have much love for you.  But time away allows thought and inspiration, and an excitement for things to come in 2010.
What will we do?  Where will wo go?  Who will we help?  As of yet, we just don't know.  One thing is certain, we will continue to do the best we can to live as Jesus teaches us, and to follow wherever God leads us, wherever that takes us, and no matter what He asks of us.
I hope you have an amazing CHRISTmas of worship, love, and time with family and friends.   Remember that Jesus is truly the reason for this season (not just a catchy phrase); and ponder what an amazing gift that God gave us. I pray in advance that your hopes and goals of 2010 will all be realized and that your year will be filled with good health, family and friendship, and the wonder of God.
Much love,
-Jeff

....when I wrote this.

As luck would have it, Christmas Eve and New Years Eve are on Thursdays this year.  We will gather again beginning Thursday, January 7th, and look forward to seeing you all.  As you gather in worship and celebration with your family and friends, be sure to tell them about The Roots, we would love to see many more seats filled in 2010.

Our experiences with you in 2009 have been wonderful, inspiring, amazing, and filled with the presence of the Holy Spirit.  I have treasured this time with you and look forward to much more in the year to come. These few weeks that we are not gathering are bittersweet.  You are my family and I will miss you if we don't cross paths; but time away allows thought, inspiration, and an excitement for things to come in 2010.

What will we do?  Where will wo go?  Who will we help?  As of yet, we just don't know.  One thing is certain, we will continue to do the best we can to live as Jesus teaches us, and to follow wherever God leads us, wherever that takes us, and no matter what He asks of us.

Where do you want this to go?  How can we make this a better experience?  Would you like to be more involved? The Roots is YOUR ministry.  There are many ways to share your thoughts.  We have a contact page on this website with which you can send your thoughts to Jimmy; or just email him at: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. I hope you have an amazing CHRISTmas of worship, love, and time with family and friends.   Remember that Jesus is truly the reason for this season (not just a catchy phrase); and ponder what an amazing gift that God gave us.....his only son......our Lord and brother. I pray in advance that your hopes and goals of 2010 will be realized and that your year will be filled with good health, family, friendship, and the blessings and grace of God.

Much love,
-Jeff

As many of you know I am not allowing my family to skip over Thanksgiving and jump right into Christmas.  As part of that we are trying to focus on what we are really thankful for.  In a conversation with my daughter Skylar today after school about Thanksgiving she was telling me that she is thankful for her friends and family!  Very cool but I'm that jerk Dad that won't let my kids get away with the easy answers so I asked who are your friends..........Imagine Skylar in her most whimsical voice rattling off names............Then I asked her who her family is.................Still whimsical but with a bit of seriousness added in and it started with a well first there is Mom and you Dad!  Then there is Cammy and Molly and Abbie (our Cat) Then she went on to name all of these other people that are part of our lives Grandparents Aunts Uncles etc etc...........Then the coolest thing happened!  She started listing the people that she had already said were her friends and I said well you already said them.  we already said we were thankful for them and she said well I want to list them two times because they are friends and family!  That's what that means Dad when people say that!

We may have concluded the series; but this doesn't end things.  People need food, water, clothing, shelter, and companionship and support when they are sick or imprisoned everyday.....continuously.  We did some great things over the past five weeks; and the challenge is to continue them!   In Matthew 25:34-45, Jesus spells things out for us.  He insists that we dedicate our lives to the service of others.....not just ourselves and our families; but everyone!   Part of our jobs as God's children is to love and care for others regardless of who they are.  Sound difficult?  It is!  But as Jimmy said in week 3, "Too bad!
